Diolen & Innegra

High tenacity synthetic fibre reinforcements include polyester (PET) fibre, such as Diolen®, polyolefin fibre, such as Innegra, UHMW polyesters and more. Although they all have different properties, woven fabric reinforcement made from these type of fibres typically provides superior impact and abrasion properties, coupled a low density, particularly when compared to glass or carbon fibre. These dry woven reinforcement fabrics can be used on their own or in conjunction with other types of reinforcement to add impact strength and resilience to a laminate and so are often used in products like canoes, kayaks, life rafts etc.

Diolen and Innegra reinforcements in this category are suitable for all types of processing including hand-layup, vacuum bagging and resin infusion but they can be difficult to bond to and so only epoxy or vinylester resins should be used.
