This 300gsm non-woven mat is made from 100% recycled carbon fibres offering excellent environmental and cost saving advantages and can be used in both component and mould making applications.
When used in cosmetic parts the finish is similar to that of a typical ‘forged’ carbon look only with finer fibres and a much more subtle appearance.
This mat is 300gsm we also have a 100gsm available, listed separately
How to Buy
This mat is 1m (39") wide and the fabric is sold by the linear metre. The unit price shown is for 1 linear metre but volume discounts automatically apply for larger quantities of mat.
Please purchase the number of linear metres you require. When purchasing multiple metres the fabric will be supplied in one continuous length on a roll.

Processing
Non-woven mats can be used with most composite processes and resin systems, most commonly hand layup and resin infusion using epoxy, vinylester or polyester resin systems, the mat binding readily breaks down with resin and can be easily conformed to complex, compound forms. Resin to fibre fractions will typically be 70:30 and 50:50 for hand layup and resin infusion respectively.

Being made up of randomly orientated different length fibres, it will be weaker than a traditionally woven cloth. So for critical structural or stiffness applications, you will need more material to get the same strength or stiffness. However the random orientation of the fibres does give the benefit of a more balanced laminate.
A single layer of the fabric ends up approximately 1.9mm thick when infused.
