Cobalt dilution for use as a cure promotor in unaccelerated polyester and vinylester resins. This 1% dilution is easier to correctly measure for most applications and is typically added at around 2-4% to unaccelerated polyester and vinylester resins.

The curing of unsaturated vinylester and polyester resins at normal ambient temperature requires both an organic peroxide (known as the catalyst, such as MEKP) and an accelerator, typically cobalt salt.
In most unsaturated polyester and vinylester resins, cobalt accelerator has already been added to the resin and does not need to be added at the time of use. However, pre-acceleration of resin systems reduces their shelf-life and therefore some more reactive resins are supplied un-accelerated and require a small amount of accelerator to be added at the time of use, as well as the catalyst, to cure properly.
AC1 is a cobalt accelerator in a concentration of 1% in styrene. AC1 should be added to un-accelerated polyester and vinylester resin systems (such as our VE140 Fuel Resistant Vinylester Resin) as a cure promotor, according to the recommendations of the resin supplier.
Important Information
Safety Information
Always fully mix the accelerator into the resin system before adding the catalyst. Never mix promotors, such as AC1 Cobalt Accelerator, directly with catalysts like MEKP, otherwise a violent reaction can occur. See SDS and TDS for full safety information.
How to Buy
AC1 is available to buy online in 250g quantities.
It is typically added at around 4% meaning that a 250g pack is sufficient up to 5kg of resin.
Shelf Life
AC1 Cobalt Accelerator has a shelf life of 3 months from date of manufacture.
