Although not necessarily an exhaustive list, the following tools and materials, supplied by Easy Composites, were used in this project.
The quantity shown below is the approximate amount used in the project rounded up to the nearest available kit size or quantity.
I’ve been using Easy Composites for some of my materials, including vacuum bagging material, carbon fibre cloth, and other consumables.
My latest project is a custom 5ft fish-style kitesurf board, fully laminated with 200g 2x2 Twill Black Diolen Cloth and epoxy resin. The board is first hand-shaped, then laminated with epoxy resin on both the bottom and top. It features one layer of S-glass fiberglass and one layer of Diolen cloth or carbon fibre. The board is then vacuum-sealed for 3 hours until the resin is fully cured.
Afterward, It’s sanded with 80 grit sandpaper and sealed with another coat of epoxy resin. Finally, it’s sanded again, progressing from 240 to 1000 grit, and polished depending on the customer’s request.
My name is Rafael Raso, and I design and shape kitesurf boards and surfboards in West Sussex under the name Puzzle Surfboards. I’ve been doing this for the last five years.
