Permabond PT326 is a fast curing, thixotropic two-part polyurethane adhesive offering good adhesion to a wide range of substrates including plastics, composites and metals, with good temperature and chemical resistance, and non-slump gap filling up to 5mm.

Although not offering quite the same performance, PT326 can be used as an alternative to MMA adhesives such as VM100, or epoxy adhesives such as ET5428, in applications or environments where a polyurethane chemistry is preferred.

PT326 is dark grey in colour with a 4-7 minute working time and a thixotropic consistency making it suitable for gap filling up to 5mm and application on vertical surfaces. Due to the chemical composition, polyurethane adhesives can only be sold for professional or industrial use.

Pack Sizes and Dispensing

PT326 is available in 50ml or 400ml pack sizes which can be selected at the top of the page. Both pack sizes use 1:1 ratio cartridges and require a suitable cartridge dispenser gun.

The cartridges are intended to be used with static mixer nozzles which fully mix the two components as they pass through the nozzle. They are supplied with one nozzle but once used, adhesive cures in the nozzle and they need to be discarded. Additional nozzles are available to buy separately:

Can’t find the answer you’re looking for?Ask our technical team a question.

Yes, certainly. In fact the easiest way to do this is to simply leave the static mixer nozzle in place after you use the adhesive. The adhesive that's in the nozzle will have been mixed and so will cure but the glue at the start of the nozzle will be unmixed and not cured meaning the nozzle will twist off perfectly and the glue inside will have been protected from the atmosphere and so will be perfectly preserved ready for use.

A typical application of the adhesive is approximately a 0.5mm thick layer. At this thickness, one 50ml cartridge would cover an area 30cm by 30cm; a 400ml cartridge would cover an area approximately 90cm by 90cm.

For best results when gluing over a large surface area, use a spreader to help ensure the adhesive is laid down in an even layer.

There is no practical minimum bond thickness for this adhesive although you do need to ensure that *some* adhesive is present, which is why glass spheres are sometimes used to prevent the adhesive from being scraped off completely. Essentially though, as long as an even thin film is applied the bond strength between the two materials will be good.

Yes, PT326 will bond Carbon Fibre laminates to steel. However, our ET515 Semi Flexible 15min Epoxy and our ET500 Rigid 5min Epoxy adhesives would offer a superior bond between steel and carbon fibre in most situations.

If you are bonding cured laminates together then PT326 would work okay. If you didn't particularly need a PU adhesive and the colour/working time weren't an issue then VM100 would also be a good option.

Whilst this PT326 PU adhesive does offer a great bond on plastic to plastic (which is basically what carbon to carbon is), we generally recommend our VM100 Black 10min Methacrylate Adhesive as it has a slightly superior bond strength and resilience (toughness) in most situations. It is also quick curing and cost effective.

Although the PT326 will bond to acrylic sheet, our VM100 Black methyl methacrylate adhesive will provide a stronger bond in this case.

I don't think I would recommend our PT326 for this. Although it does offer good bond characteristics to a range of plastics, Nylon and PVC can be difficult to bond to and there may be better, specialist adhsives out there for this type of bond.

Yes, once cured PT326 has a good resistance to water. It's important to ensure the materials to be bonded are dry at the time of bonding and during cure but once full cure has been achieved then the PT326 should not be affected by water.
