Although not necessarily an exhaustive list, the following tools and materials, supplied by Easy Composites, were used in this project.
The quantity shown below is the approximate amount used in the project rounded up to the nearest available kit size or quantity.
Ilya of RuskiWeldFab has now completed his second clio 172 based race car, built from a bare shell over a period of 5 months
Competing in Time Attack in Club Pro 2WD class. 99% of the work was done by himself in the shed. The car has a significant power upgrade from the previous car, now being fitted with a Honda K24 turbo charged engine and a sequential gearbox. The car is now running over 500bhp.
Most of the original panels have been replaced with home made Carbon Kevlar panels. These were made by Resin Infusion and also skinning/mouldless construction methods over some existing panels, for weight saving and performance reasons. This now means the car weights only 870kg which is a significant weight saving compared to the previous car.
All the exterior panels are now made in light weight carbon/Kevlar composite as well as the splitter, rear diffuser, air intake, fuel tank enclosure and flat under floor.
RuskiWeldFab is the home of the fastest self-build Renault Clio 172 Race Car. Ilya does the vast majority of the work himself and has a mantra of 'built not bought' in his approach to modifying his race car.
RuskiWeldFab has his own YouTube Channel where he features videos on his fabrication work on this car and other projects as well as other topics.
