TOPFINISH 2 is one of the most advanced high-gloss polishing compounds available. It is suitable for most resins systems including epoxy, polyester and vinylester and can be used on its own, from a 1200 grit starting point, or together with the coarser NW1 compound to achieve an even higher level of gloss.
This special black colour version is suitable for carbon fibre or dark laminates.
Available to buy online in 500g and 1kg packs.

Pai Cristal's TOPFINISH 2 Black is an advanced nano abrasive technology polishing compound used to finish composite patterns, moulds and components to a mirror finish. In our testing, no other polishing compound can produce such a high gloss in the same time as TOPFINISH 2.
The balance of advanced nano-abrasives and high performance polishing agents employed in TOPFINISH 2 is unique to Pai Cristal Italia and represents the pinnacle of mirror-finish polishing compounds even on the hardest composite materials like vinylester and epoxy.
As a high gloss finishing or refinishing compound, TOPFINISH 2 is only intended to remove fine scratches left by coarser compounds, remove holograms or restore gloss to a previously finished mould. After using coarser abrasives, initial scratch removal and polishing should be undertaken using a faster cutting, coarser compound like NW1 Black before progressing to a mirror finish using TOPFINISH 2.
Further Information
#1 Choice When Polishing Carbon Fibre
TOPFINISH 2 Black's dark grey colour has been specially developed to eliminate the problem of conventional polishing compounds causing 'white spots' when they collect inside pin-holes on the surface of carbon fibre or dark coloured parts making TOPFINISH 2 Black the #1 choice in carbon fibre workshops as a carbon fibre polishing compound.
How to Use
For best results, TOPFINISH 2 should be used with a variable speed polisher, choosing a medium soft foam polishing pad for fast, effective removal of remaining swirls from previous compounds or to restore extreme gloss to moulds and components.
Apply a small quantity of compound on the polisher-pad or mop. Let the polisher turn at low revolutions, speeding them up (1000 - 2000 RPM) while spreading the paste with crossed movements. Be careful to not overheat the surface of the mould or part. If heat starts to build up, reduce the speed or pressure or wait for the heat to dissipate.
If necessary, please repeat the application of the compound but always allow sufficient working of a new application to allow the compound to break down and transition from a cutting to a glossing action again.
Wipe the polished surface clean using a microfibre polishing cloth.
Further Finishing
After polishing components using TOPFINISH 2 Black, you can optionally add a final showroom shine and wax protection using Pai Cristal's EASYGLOSS Carbon Fibre Ultra Polish & Protect.

It's hard to say how much compound gets used when polishing because it rather depends on how many times you need to go forwards and backwards between compound and papers (often you find there are still scratches and need to go back to the papers again!). In really broad terms, which I think is all it's realistic to come up with, I would say that for a one-off project, even a large one like polishing a whole resin-coated table, then the smallest 100g packs would be sufficient. This would apply to both types of compound (NW1 and the TOPFINISH2).
If you're using compounds regularly, for example if you're making resin products as a business, then you would have either the 500g or 1kg packs in stock and work your way through them over a period of months, replacing when necessary. Certainly a 500g pack of NW1 would be more than enough compound for lots (maybe 10+) river tables, for example.
None of our polishing compounds contain silicone, however we would normally not recommend polishing a part which is due to be spray painted as a glossy finish would be exactly the wrong surface for proper paint adhesion. Typically a surface to be painted would want to be abraded with a fine sandpaper or Scotch-type pad to give a good key for the paint to point to.
Best choice for high gloss polishing!
