In this category you will find the vacuum bagging materials and equipment most commonly used when undertaking traditional vacuum bagging of a composites laminate.
Traditional vacuum bagging of a composites laminate typically involves wet-laying/hand laminating dry reinforcement, and sometimes core materials, into a mould using a laminating resin. The wet laminate is then vacuum bagged using specific materials which allow the vacuum bag to consolidate the laminate and also squeeze excess resin out of it, resulting in a laminate with low void content and an improved fibre-to-resin ratio.
To achieve this, a vacuum bagging stack of peel-ply, followed by perforated release film, then breather cloth are positioned onto the wet laminate before the vacuum bagging film encloses everything and is sealed to itself or to the mould flange using sealant tape. We have a video tutorial demonstrating the vacuum bagging process in our learning area.
